Cataloging Specialist CT

Job Description:

We are seeking a Cataloging Specialist (Clinical Data) who will be responsible for organizing, maintaining

and enhancing the enterprise data catalog to ensure data assets are easily discoverable, well

documented and governed. The specialist will work closely with Data Management & Platform Team,

Requestors, Product Owners & Business Enablement to ensure high quality metadata & enabling teams

to confidently access and use trusted data across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

In This Role, You Will:

• Curate and maintain the data catalog by capturing, validating and enriching the metadata from

multiple sources (Clinicaltrails.gov, CTMS, etc)

• Manage governance, cataloging, and metadata for a wide range of data typesincluding

clinical, digital health, biomarkers, real-world data, multi-omics, lab, imaging, and video datasets

• Develop and monitor KPIs for metadata quality, completeness, and compliance across domains.
• Participate in proof-of-concept initiatives that evaluate data governance and metadata

enhancements, demonstrating the business value realized through improved data management

practices.

• Document the detailed data access process for datasets
• Monitor catalog adoption, usage patterns while continuously improving catalog usability &

searchability

• Support data literacy initiatives by helping users navigate and leverage the catalog for self-

service analytics, aiding in AI adoption and integration.

• Quality checks on all metadata fields populated for the documents
• Ensure Cataloging visibility and effective tracking of datasets not natively cataloged on our

platform

• Seamless and crisp navigation of the data catalog, assisting users in efficiently locating and

utilizing the data they need.

Experience And Skills:

Required:

• Bachelors or Masters in Life sciences domain
• 3+ years of experience in data cataloging across Clinical Datasets
• Prior experience working with clinical, biomarkers, digital health, multi-omics data
• Proficiency with SQL
• Prior experience with Alation’s cataloging platform
• Ability to manage taxonomies & ontologies for better data discoverability
• Excellent attention to detail, data organization and documentation skills
• Strong communication skills with ability to seamlessly work across technical and business teams
• Strong sense of ownership and accountability in managing critical data assets, thereby ensuring

completeness & consistency.

Preferred:

• PhD in life sciences with extensive experience in multi-omics
• Familiarity with automated metadata ingestion & catalog curation workflows.

• Experience working with other cataloging platforms (TileDB, Collibra, Informatica, etc)
• Exposure to API based metadata extraction, scripting (Python, REST APIs) or automation for

catalog updates.
