Job Description

Automotive technicians are responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining vehicles. They diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, perform routine maintenance, and replace parts as needed. Their responsibilities also include maintaining records, adhering to safety standards, and interacting with customers. Core Responsibilities: Diagnosing and Repairing Vehicles: Identifying and resolving problems with a vehicle's engine, transmission, electrical system, brakes, suspension, and other components. Routine Maintenance: Performing tasks like oil changes, tire rotations, fluid checks, and tune-ups. Parts Replacement: Replacing worn-out or faulty parts with new ones. Adhering to Standards: Following manufacturer specifications, dealership procedures, and safety regulations. Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate records of service and repairs performed on each vehicle. Customer Interaction: Explaining vehicle problems to customers in a clear and understandable manner. Safety Compliance: Operating tools and equipment safely, and ensuring a clean and safe work environment. Additional Responsibilities: Using Diagnostic Tools: Employing computerized diagnostic equipment to pinpoint problems efficiently. Inventory Management: Keeping track of parts inventory, placing orders, and verifying receipts. Staying Up-to-Date: Participating in training and educational opportunities to learn about new technologies and techniques. Supervision (in some cases): Supervising apprentices or other technicians. Shop Maintenance: Keeping the shop area clean and organized, and ensuring that tools and equipment are properly maintained.
