The CAD/PDM Engineer is responsible for managing the development and deployment of CAD contents, on-going support and refinement of all Engineering CAD tools.
The primary responsibilities revolve around leading such activities for a highly integrated Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Vault solution to streamline the engineering workflow within the greater business processes of the company. Alongside the Inventor/Vault solution, similar responsibilities exist for the development, support, and deployment of Autodesk AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical configurations and standards.
Within this role you will work as a member of the Engineering Department to closely develop and maintain solutions while coordinating heavily with the company s Information Technology Department. The position offers a high level of autonomy and requires a hands-on approach for the immediate responsibilities of the position. Candidates must have a strong desire to research new solutions, problem solve, and engage in collaborative efforts with other leaders within the Engineering and IT department.
The roles & responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Create and modify parametric 2D, 3D CAD files in Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD.
- Develop and maintain a custom content center & commodity library in Autodesk Vault
- Support, enhance, develop CAD/PDM toolsets and workflows.
- Works to develop, deploy, and maintain CAD/PDM solutions with the guidance of the Engineering and IT Departments leadership team focused on Autodesk Inventor, Vault, and AutoCAD.
- Perform testing and develop implementation, migration, and upgrade plans.
- Provide expert knowledge of Autodesk Inventor & Autodesk Vault configuration and data management.
- Security administration of new user or group permissions related to Autodesk Vault.
- Manage Vault configuration (setup, folders, moving/deleting/rollback of vault files).
- Meta-data and systems configuration management (data cards, search, system variables, etc.)
- Documentation and standards governance as well as creation of needed SOPs and Guidelines.
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent degree
- Autodesk Product certifications (preferred not mandatory)
- Other CAD PDM certifications (preferred not mandatory)
- Strong understanding of engineering based 2D & 3D CAD software, standardization solution development, and deployment.
- Strong understanding of commercially available pipe fittings, valves and instruments
Professional Requirements:
- 1-3 years of overall experience with experience in CAD PDM deployment, data migration, including import, export, and data mapping.
- Prior experience with Autodesk products (Inventor, Vault Professional and AutoCAD) is a must.
- Should have a hands-on experience in Autodesk Vault deployment and maintenance.
- Microsoft tools proficiency, C#, VBA and automation preferred.
- Effective written and oral communication skills; able to express oneself clearly and in technical and nontechnical terms
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously with a high level of autonomy while working independently and /or within a collaborative team structure.
