Job Description

Job Title: Business Development Manager Bulk Drug (API)

  1. Business Development & Market Research:

    • Identify and develop new domestic and international markets for APIs.
    • Analyze market trends, demand forecasts, and customer needs.
    • Gather intelligence on competitor products, pricing, and specifications.

  1. Client Relationship Management:

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients (formulation companies, distributors, CMOs).
    • Act as a liaison between clients and internal teams (R&D, production, QA/QC).
    • Ensure understanding of client requirements and communicate product specifications clearly.

  1. Product & Technical Specification Handling:

    • Review and understand client specifications for bulk drugs.
    • Coordinate with QC/QA departments to ensure product specifications align with customer requirements.
    • Provide technical support and documentation during client audits or inquiries.

  1. Sales & Commercial Activities:

    • Generate RFQs, negotiate pricing, and close contracts.
    • Manage and maintain sales pipelines and monthly/quarterly targets.
    • Coordinate sample dispatches, commercial supplies, and logistics with operations.

  1. Documentation & Compliance:

    • Ensure timely preparation and submission of dossiers, CoAs, MSDS, and regulatory filings as needed.
    • Work with RA team to support regulatory submissions (e.g., DMFs, CEPs).
    • Track documentation status and client approvals.

  1. Internal Coordination:

    • Coordinate with production, quality, logistics, and finance departments to meet client expectations.
    • Monitor inventory, production timelines, and dispatch schedules.


Key Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of pharmaceutical APIs and specifications
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
  • Technical understanding of pharmacopeial standards (USP, EP, IP, etc.)
  • Market analysis and strategic planning abilities
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and documentation
  • Proficiency in CRM tools and MS Office Suite

Qualifications:

  • Education:

    B.Pharm / M.Pharm / B.Sc / M.Sc / MBA in Pharma or Marketing
  • Experience:

    8-10 years in pharmaceutical B2B sales, preferably in APIs or bulk drugs

KPIs (Key Performance Indicators):

  • Revenue generation and sales target achievement
  • New customer acquisition
  • Customer satisfaction and retention
  • Timely response to client RFQs and technical queries
  • Success in documentation and regulatory support
