Role & responsibilities

Job Title: Business Analyst Identity and Access Management (IAM)

Job Summary: The Business Analyst – IAM will play a pivotal role in the analysis, documentation, and enhancement of identity and access management solutions across the organization. This role bridges the gap between technical teams and business stakeholders, ensuring IAM controls and policies align with regulatory compliance, security standards, and business needs. The BA will be responsible for gathering requirements, mapping processes, supporting governance models, and enabling secure access practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with business units and IT stakeholders to capture IAM requirements.
  • Define user access lifecycle events such as onboarding, transfers, and offboarding.
  • Document current-state and future-state IAM processes.
  • Interpret regulatory and compliance requirements in the context of IAM.
  • Align IAM solutions with audit and risk standards.
  • Work with IAM architects and engineers to define integration specifications for SSO, MFA, PAM, and directory services.
  • Act as liaison between security, IT, HR, and application teams.
  • Prepare reports, dashboards, and presentations for leadership.
  • Define and execute UAT and functional test cases for IAM functionalities.
  • Validate access control changes and new feature deployments.
  • Contribute to IAM governance frameworks.
  • Track IAM KPIs like orphan accounts, access review closure rate, SLA adherence.

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

1. Technical Skills:

  • Good understanding of IAM tools such as SailPoint, Okta, Ping Identity, BeyondTrust, Azure AD, ForgeRock.
  • Knowledge of IAM protocols and standards (LDAP, SAML, OAuth, OpenID Connect).
  • Knowledge of Directory services (Active Directory, Azure AD).
  • Good understanding of identity lifecycle management, application access governance, role-based access control (RBAC), privileged access management (PAM).
  • Exposure to cloud identity management (AWS IAM, Azure IAM).

2. Business Analysis Skills:

  • Strong skills in requirements elicitation, use case development, and process modelling.
  • Proficiency in writing BRDs, FRDs, and user stories.
  • Experience with tools like JIRA, Confluence, ADO, Visio.

3. Soft Skills:

  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to manage stakeholders and conduct cross-functional workshops.
  • High attention to detail and organizational awareness.
