Bureau Chief

Responsibilities & Duties:

• Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the bureau, including the development and implementation of policies and procedures
• Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, community organizations, and industry leaders
• Conduct research and analysis to inform decision making and support the development of effective policies and procedures
• Oversee and manage staff, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations
• Develop and manage budgets, ensuring that resources are effectively and efficiently utilized
• Represent the organization in a professional and positive manner, including presenting at conferences and meetings, and representing the organization in media interview
• Cover live and breaking news, enterprise and investigations in the region.
• Familiarity with audience tactics to reach new readers across platforms.
• Build a network of stringers, reporters, and translators for sourcing and reporting.
• Hire and manage staff in the bureau; including proactively ensuring that the team are engaged, motivated; assess their performance and support their development.
• Collaborate with other reporters in the region during major news moments.
  

Experience Required:

• 12+ years of experience in a leadership role
• Proven track record of effective team management
• Strong media relations and public speaking skills
• Experience with budget management and financial oversight.
