As a Structural Designer Proposals , you will play a crucial role in the pre-sales phase by translating client requirements and architectural concepts into preliminary structural designs and layouts for proposals. You will be responsible for creating technically sound and visually appealing design concepts, performing preliminary structural calculations, and preparing design-related content for bids and tenders. This role requires a strong understanding of structural engineering principles, proficiency in design software, and the ability to work collaboratively to support the sales and business development teams. Responsibilities Preliminary Structural Design & Layout: Review client requirements, architectural drawings, and project specifications to understand the scope and structural needs for various projects (e.g., industrial buildings, commercial structures, specialized foundations). Develop preliminary structural layouts, framing plans, and conceptual designs for proposals and bids. Suggest optimal structural systems (e.g., steel, concrete, pre-engineered building systems) based on project constraints, cost-efficiency, and functionality. Feasibility & Value Engineering: Perform basic feasibility studies and preliminary structural calculations to validate design concepts and ensure structural integrity for proposal purposes. Identify opportunities for value engineering to propose cost-effective and efficient structural solutions to potential clients. Contribute technical insights to project scoping discussions. Proposal Content Creation: Prepare high-quality structural design sketches, drawings, and 3D renderings (if applicable) for inclusion in technical proposals. Write clear, concise, and persuasive technical descriptions of proposed structural solutions for tender documents. Collaborate with the proposals team, estimators, and business development managers to ensure the structural scope is accurately reflected in commercial bids. Cost Estimation Support: Assist the estimation team by providing accurate preliminary material take-offs and structural system details to support cost estimation for proposals. Provide input on potential cost drivers related to structural design choices. Software Utilization: Utilize structural design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Tekla Structures, STAAD.Pro, ETABS, Revit Structure ) for preliminary modeling, drafting, and visualization as required for proposals. Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with the sales, business development, and estimation teams to understand client needs and align structural proposals with overall project objectives. Participate in pre-bid meetings and client discussions to present structural design concepts and address technical queries. Market & Technical Research: Stay updated with the latest structural design trends, materials, construction techniques, and relevant Indian Building Codes ( IS codes ). Research competitor structural offerings and industry best practices to enhance proposal quality.
