Job Description

Job Title: Bakery Chef

Location: Versova, Andheri

Department: Production / Kitchen

Reporting To: Head Chef / Store Manager / Owner

Job Summary:

The Bakery Chef is responsible for preparing, baking, and presenting high-quality bakery products such as bagels, donuts, pastries, and desserts. The role involves creativity, consistency, and adherence to hygiene and brand standards to ensure an exceptional product experience for every customer.

Key Responsibilities:

Production & Baking

  • Prepare a wide range of bakery items (bagels, donuts, breads, cookies, etc.) according to recipes and brand standards.
  • Manage the full baking process — dough preparation, proofing, baking, glazing, and finishing.
  • Ensure consistency in taste, texture, and presentation across all batches.
  • Experiment and develop new bakery recipes to expand the menu.

Quality & Hygiene

  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen at all times.
  • Follow all FSSAI and food safety guidelines.
  • Check ingredient quality and freshness daily.
  • Ensure proper storage and labeling of raw materials and finished products.

Inventory & Cost Control

  • Monitor daily inventory of baking ingredients and report shortages in time.
  • Minimize wastage and optimize ingredient usage.
  • Assist in costing and portion control for each bakery item.

Team Coordination

  • Work closely with kitchen assistants and helpers to ensure smooth production flow.
  • Train junior staff in baking techniques and product handling.
  • Communicate effectively with the café or outlet team for order timing and quality control.

Operational Responsibilities

  • Follow daily production schedules and ensure all products are ready for service on time.
  • Assist in maintaining baking equipment and report issues immediately.
  • Participate in menu planning, seasonal launches, and tasting sessions.

Requirements & Skills:

  • Diploma or certification in Bakery & Confectionery / Culinary Arts preferred.
  • 2–5 years of experience in a bakery or café setup (bagels/donuts experience a plus).
  • Strong knowledge of baking techniques, dough science, and flavor pairing.
  • Creative, detail-oriented, and passionate about bakery products.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen and manage multiple batches simultaneously.
  • Excellent time management and teamwork skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
