Role Description

We are seeking a soft goods designer with experience in designing and manufacturing premium backpacks. The person will help our in-house design and operations team with their wisdom.

Qualifications

• Soft goods material and construction knowledge
• Thorough knowledge of technical textiles: Cordura, ripstop nylon, ballistic polyester, X-Pac, sailcloth, recycled PET, etc.
• Understanding of hardware: YKK zippers, Fidlock buckles, Woojin hardware, Duraflex, ITW Nexus
• Familiarity with the manufacturing constraints of: Laser cutting, sewing and seam binding, molded foam/EVA panels
• Ability to create tech packs and spec sheets for prototyping
• Experience working with sample makers or factories
• Basic knowledge of soft-goods costing & margin implications
• Knowing how to approach and vet vendors in the bag-making industry
• Someone based out of Bangalore who is willing to be on call for questions and is willing to come to our studio once in a while
