Back End Developer

As a member of the backend engineering team at Jaxl, your main responsibilities include designing database schemas, creating REST APIs that adhere to OpenAPI specifications, writing testable code, and deploying & monitoring microservices on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Our engineering teams at Jaxl follow an agile methodology, breaking down each quarter into milestones that typically last for 2 weeks. We utilize GitHub project management for planning, organizing, and prioritizing tasks. On a typical day, your tasks as an engineer at Jaxl will involve reviewing your peers" pull requests, prioritizing your daily tasks, submitting pull requests for your tasks, addressing review comments from peers on your pull requests, and verifying changes once your code has been deployed on GCP. As a backend engineer at Jaxl, it is essential to be proficient in common data structures and algorithms. Python3 is the primary language used for backend development at Jaxl. We heavily rely on the Django Framework and Django Rest Framework, while making extensive use of Python3's support for type hints. Git workflows are commonly used for source version management. Postgres serves as our relational database, and Redis is utilized as our cache database.
