Role & responsibilities

Core skills

• Deep OpenSearch knowledge:

  In-depth understanding of OpenSearch concepts, including search algorithms, indexing, query optimization, and cluster management.

• AWS ecosystem:

  Strong proficiency in relevant AWS services, such as IAM, VPC, S3, CloudWatch, and Kinesis, which integrate with OpenSearch Service.

• Data ingestion and pipelines:

  Experience with data ingestion and transformation tools like Logstash, Fluentd, or OpenSearch Ingestion.

• Troubleshooting and monitoring:

  The ability to monitor OpenSearch clusters for performance, troubleshoot issues, and set up effective alerting.

• Networking:

  Knowledge of network access controls, VPCs, and endpoint configurations for securing OpenSearch domains.

• Programming languages:

  Proficiency in languages like Java and Python is essential for development and scripting tasks.

• Full-stack development:

  Some roles require experience with modern web technologies, including JavaScript frameworks like Node.js, React, or Angular, for working on the OpenSearch Dashboards interface.

• System design:

  Ability to design and develop robust, efficient, and maintainable software for a world-class search and analytics platform.

• Open-source contributions:

  Experience working with and contributing to open-source projects, including the core OpenSearch and Apache Lucene software.

• Performance optimization:

  Skills in optimizing JVM performance, addressing data storage challenges, and enhancing query performance

• Infrastructure as Code (IaC):

  Experience with tools like Terraform to automate the deployment and management of OpenSearch clusters and related AWS resources.

• Container orchestration:

  Familiarity with Kubernetes for deploying and managing OpenSearch on containerized platforms.

• CI/CD practices:

  Experience integrating OpenSearch into continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines.
