Electrical Engineer - Solar Projects
Job Overview:
The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the design, installation, and commissioning of electrical systems for solar power projects. This includes solar power plant layouts, substations, transmission lines, and associated electrical infrastructure. The Electrical Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely project execution while maintaining safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and Engineering:
Develop electrical single-line diagrams (SLDs), load flow studies, and detailed design drawings.
Perform cable sizing, earthing system design, and transformer selection.
Prepare and review technical specifications, BOQs, and design calculations.
Ensure compliance with national and international electrical standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE).
Project Execution:
Provide on-site technical support during installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems.
Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues during the construction phase.
Collaborate with procurement teams to ensure timely material delivery.
Coordination and Documentation:
Liaise with internal teams, contractors, vendors, and consultants to ensure smooth execution.
Conduct regular inspections to ensure adherence to design standards and quality requirements.
Maintain and update all electrical documentation, including test reports, as-built drawings, and manuals.
Compliance and Safety:
Ensure all electrical installations comply with safety standards and local regulations.
Conduct risk assessments and implement necessary mitigation measures.
Support in obtaining necessary permits and approvals.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
3-7 years of experience in electrical engineering for solar or renewable energy projects.
Proficiency in electrical design software such as ETAP, AutoCAD, or similar.
Experience in substation design, SCADA systems, and protection schemes.
Knowledge of regulatory standards like CEA, IS, IEC, and IEEE.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and team collaboration abilities.
Preferred:
Experience in large-scale solar projects (utility-scale).
