Job Summary:

The Assistant Transport Manager will support the overall coordination, planning, and management of daily transport operations. The role involves ensuring efficient vehicle scheduling, safety compliance, staff supervision, and smooth transportation services for students/employees.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Transport Operations Management

  • Assist in planning and managing daily transport routes and schedules.
  • Monitor vehicle movement, ensure punctuality, and manage route optimisation.
  • Coordinate with drivers, conductors, and support staff for smooth operations.

2. Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure all vehicles follow safety regulations and documentation is updated (permits, fitness, insurance, pollution certificates).
  • Oversee regular vehicle inspections and maintenance coordination.

3. Staff Supervision & Coordination

  • Supervise and guide drivers and transport staff.
  • Conduct training on safety rules, behaviour, and operational guidelines.
  • Resolve staff concerns and ensure discipline.

4. Record Keeping & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of fuel usage, vehicle logs, maintenance schedules, and attendance.
  • Prepare daily/weekly operational reports for management.

5. Stakeholder Coordination

  • Address transport-related queries and complaints from students, parents, and internal departments.
  • Coordinate with vendors, workshops, and authorities when required.

6. Emergency Handling

  • Assist in managing breakdowns, route changes, or emergency situations efficiently.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in any discipline (preferred: logistics/administration).
  • 2–4 years of experience in transport coordination/operations (preferred).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good knowledge of vehicle management, routes, and safety protocols.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and basic transport management systems.
  • Ability to handle pressure, multitask, and respond quickly in emergencies.
