About the Balika Panchayat - The Balika Panchayat in Gujarat is a unique initiative designed to empower girls and promote gender equality by involving them in local decision-making processes. It is a non-political platform where girls aged 11-21 participate in their own panchayat (village council) and make decisions related to their community, similar to traditional Gram Panchayats. Purpose - The Balika Panchayat aims to foster the social and political development of girls, ensuring their active participation in politics from a young age. It also seeks to address issues like child marriage and the dowry system by promoting gender equality and challenging societal norms. Qualifications Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Development Studies, Gender Studies, or any other relevant discipline. Key Competencies: Strong conceptual understanding of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Violence Against Women (VAW). Proficiency in using Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite. Willingness to travel extensively to field areas as required. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with teams and engage effectively with communities. Strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and deliver results. Excellent analytical, interpersonal, writing, documentation, and presentation skills. Fluency in spoken and written English and Hindi is mandatory. Working knowledge of Gujarati will be an asset. Responsibilities Writing reports and proposals and design activities for Balika Panchayat initiative. Planning and Implementing activities and projects Working in close tandem with the community, program team, secretariat and all key stakeholders. Coordinating between community and organization.
