Job Description

As an Assistant Professor in Mass Communication & Journalism, you will be responsible for teaching undergraduate and possibly postgraduate students, leading practical sessions, mentoring projects, engaging in research, and contributing to departmental and institutional activities. Key Responsibilities: - Deliver lectures and conduct practical sessions in areas including Journalism, Broadcasting, Public Relations, Advertising, Digital & Social Media, and Media Production. - Develop curriculum, lesson plans, assessments, and lab exercises. - Evaluate student performance through assignments, exams, projects, and internal assessments. - Supervise student-led projects, media productions, and internships. - Conduct and publish scholarly research in reputed journals. - Organize academic and industry events such as workshops, guest lectures, and media training. - Participate in departmental meetings, curriculum development, and academic planning. - Assist in administrative functions including admissions, documentation, accreditation, and LMS management. - Mentor students on academic and professional growth. Qualifications: Essential: - Masters Degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Media Studies, Communication, or related field with at least 55% marks. - Qualified UGC-NET / SLET / SET or Ph.D. in a relevant discipline. Desirable: - Ph.D. in Mass Communication or Journalism. - Prior teaching experience at UG/PG level. - Industry experience in journalism, PR, broadcasting, or digital media. - Research publications in peer-reviewed or indexed journals. - Proficiency in digital media tools and software (e.g., Adobe Suite, Final Cut Pro). - Hands-on experience with video editing and production equipment. Skills & Attributes: - Proficient in Adobe Premiere Pro and camera handling. - Strong video editing skills. - Solid theoretical and practical understanding of media. - Excellent communication (verbal & written) and interpersonal skills. - Strong organizational, planning, and time-management capabilities. - Collaborative mindset and ability to engage with industry stakeholders. - Passion for teaching and mentoring future media professionals. - Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with evolving media trends. In addition to a competitive salary of 25,000 - 35,000 per month, you will receive benefits such as paid sick leave and other leave benefits as per institutional policy.
