The Fashion Design program at JD Institute of Fashion Technology, Bangalore seeks qualified Candidates for a full-time position for the position of an Assistant Professor. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate a broad understanding of Fashion Designing or technical skills like Draping, Pattern Making/ Garment construction or CAD skills as well as exceptional teaching, research, and leadership abilities. We encourage candidates with multidisciplinary interests and expertise to apply.
Education Qualification: Masters/PhD. in Fashion Design or relevant areas
Required Experience: Minimum 1+1 Teaching + Industry
Salary INR 30k to INR 50k per month depending on the level of experience and skill-set
Requirements:
- Knowledge of Fashion Design subjects/ Draping, Pattern making & garment construction/ CAD Fashion Design
- Knowledge of Design Process, Fashion Thinking, Colour Theory and Range Development Fashion Design
- Good sense of Design Process, trends and history of fashion

- Knowledge of softwares like Photoshop and Illustrator
- Understand tools and technicalities
- Having a knowledge of digital illustration

Draping/ Pattern Making, Garment Construction
- Knowledge of draping, pattern making, garment construction techniques and terms Draping/ PMT GMT faculty
- Traditional Skills of Pattern-making. (on Paper and Fabric)
- Knowledge of quality control and fabric consumption calculation
- Spontaneous in creating new designs through draping and coming up with new ideas.
- Understanding of finishing s and garment detailing.
- Designing and Draping for garments for kids, men and women
- Training or exposure to manufacturing or pattern development techniques in fashion industry
Roles and Responsibilities:
Teaching:
- Plan and teach lessons and sequences of lessons to the classes they are assigned to teach within the context of the Institute s plans, curriculum and schemes of work.
- Assess, monitor, record and report on the learning needs, progress and achievements of the students.
Mentoring:
- The Candidate is expected to mentor the students towards the course, curriculum, industry market and guide them towards the right direction.
Administrative services:
- Must keep a track of all the course details, submission and attendance of the students as per the university/institute guidelines and requirements.
- Preparing and creating content for the syllabus or a module and updating it on our Learning Management System (LMS) regularly.
Other roles:
- Create interface with industry through workshops and seminars and assist students with placements and internships.
- Be a part of all the design events, co-curricular activities and encourage students for the same.
- Active involvement in our Annual events, Design Awards and coming up with creative ideas and innovations.
- Any other committee or panel work as per the need for the smooth functioning of the department.
- Be a part of the live industry projects, seminars and external fashion shows when allotted and asked by the institute to you.
Key skills:
- The Candidate who can actively play role of: Mentor, Trainer, Advisor, Researcher, and Educator.
- Good Vocabulary and English proficiency is a must.
- Strong leadership skills, and be able to multitask and work with enthusiasm.

- Understanding of body types
