Job Description

1. Operations Management:

  • Oversee and manage the First Mile (from supplier to warehouse) and Mid Mile (from

warehouse to regional hubs/distribution centers) logistics operations.

  • Ensure timely movement of goods, while optimizing costs and reducing operational

inefficiencies.

  • Monitor transportation service levels and ensure that shipments meet agreed-upon delivery

timelines.

  • Implement and ensure adherence to KPIs and performance metrics to evaluate operational

effectiveness.

2. Control Tower Operations:

  • Act as the central point of contact for all control tower activities related to first mile and mid-

mile transportation.

  • Provide real-time tracking and status updates for all shipments, addressing any issues

proactively.

  • Coordinate between internal teams (e.g., procurement, planning, warehouse) and external

partners (3PLs, carriers) to ensure seamless logistics flow.

  • Utilize TMS (Transportation Management Systems) and WMS (Warehouse Management

Systems) to track and manage shipments effectively.

3. Stakeholder Management & Coordination:

  • Engage and collaborate with vendors, third-party logistics providers, and transportation

carriers to ensure a smooth flow of goods.

  • Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders (Supply Chain, Procurement,

Customer Service) to resolve issues related to transportation delays, disruptions, or

bottlenecks.

  • Work closely with the Operations team to optimize routes, minimize delays, and reduce

transit times.

4. Data Analysis & Reporting:

  • Analyze supply chain data to identify trends, performance gaps, and opportunities for

optimization.

  • Provide regular reports on operational performance, including on-time delivery rates, transit

times, costs, and efficiency.

  • Leverage data and analytics to proactively identify potential risks and implement corrective

actions.

5. Cost Management & Budgeting:

  • Monitor transportation budgets and ensure operations stay within cost constraints.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities in routing, transportation modes, and vendor

management.

  • Work closely with the finance team to prepare forecasts and manage expenses.

6. Risk Management & Issue Resolution:

  • Anticipate potential disruptions in the first mile and mid-mile transportation network and

implement risk mitigation strategies.

  • Quickly resolve any operational issues, including delays, damages, or loss of goods, by

working with the relevant stakeholders.

7. Continuous Improvement:

  • Lead initiatives to improve transportation processes, enhance operational efficiency, and

reduce operational costs.

  • Evaluate emerging technologies and systems for potential implementation in the control

tower processes.

  • Drive standardization of operational procedures across different transportation modes and

geographies.
