Assistant Manager - Enamel Production

Job Purpose

To lead and supervise the Enamelling Department operations, ensuring production targets are achieved with the required quality standards, optimum resource utilization, and timely delivery, while driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Production Planning & Execution: Plan, organize, and control enamelling production activities in line with overall production schedules.Monitor daily production vs. targets, ensuring optimum machine utilization and minimum downtime.Coordinate with PPC, maintenance, and stores to ensure smooth flow of raw materials and consumables (enamels, resins, solvents, etc.).Ensure adherence to production schedules for various wire sizes, strips, and batches.
• Process & Quality Control: Ensure enamelling process parameters (temperature, viscosity, speed, curing, coating thickness, etc.) are strictly followed.Monitor and minimize process rejections, reworks, and deviations.Ensure finished wires / strips meet customer specifications, IEC / IS standards, and internal quality requirements.Coordinate with the Quality team for in-process checks, testing, and approvals.
• People Management: Supervise and guide shift engineers, supervisors, and operators.Plan manpower deployment for efficient utilization across shifts.Conduct training sessions for skill development, safety practices, and process improvements.Motivate and ensure discipline, teamwork, and adherence to company policies.
• Equipment & Maintenance Support: Ensure machines, dies, enamelling furnaces, and ancillary equipment are maintained in good working condition.Coordinate with the Maintenance team for preventive and breakdown maintenance.Monitor machine performance and recommend upgrades/modifications.
• Cost & Productivity Improvements: Optimize resource consumption (enamel varnish, energy, labour hours, etc.).Identify and implement lean manufacturing, Kaizen, and productivity improvement initiatives.Drive reduction in conversion cost per unit output.
• Reporting & Compliance: Prepare daily/weekly/monthly production reports and MIS for management review.Ensure compliance with safety, environment, and statutory regulations.Support ISO audits and customer inspections.Key Skills & CompetenciesStrong technical knowledge of copper & aluminium enamelling processes (single, double, and multi-coat).Understanding of wire/strip production lines, curing ovens, varnish chemistry, and handling.Good leadership, team management, and decision-making skills.Knowledge of quality systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, IATF preferred).Analytical and problem-solving approach with a focus on results.Proficiency in ERP/MIS reporting and MS Office.

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech. Mechanical / Electrical / Industrial Engineering.8-10 years of relevant experience in production of enamelled copper/aluminium wires, strips, and conductors.
• Minimum 2-3 years in an assistant manager role.
• Performance Indicators (KPIs):Achievement of daily/weekly/monthly production targets.Adherence to quality standards (customer acceptance & zero complaints).
• Reduction in process rejections and wastages.Optimum machine utilization and productivity improvement.
• Compliance with safety, statutory, and environmental guidelines.
• Timeliness and accuracy of reporting.
