Applications Engineer

Position Summary (Position Purpose) :

Utilizes experience gained from working in applicant's department to provide technical support on new and existing Mini-Circuits products for internal and external customers. Participates as requested in design review greetings and then acts as a liaison between design engineering (and other internal departments) and external customers on the development of new products. 

Technical Skill Set – Senior RF Applications Engineer :

1. RF Component Characterization

Proficiency in measuring and interpreting S-parameters, insertion loss, return loss, group delay, and isolation using VNAs and spectrum analyzers.

2. Impedance Matching & Filter Design Fundamentals

Strong grasp of Smith chart-based matching, filter topologies (lumped, distributed, ceramic, cavity), and their behavior across frequency bands.

3. RF System Integration

Experience integrating filters into broader RF systems, understanding signal chains, cascaded performance, and system-level trade-offs.

4. RF Standards & Compliance

Familiarity with telecom, aerospace, and defense RF standards, and how filter specs must align with system-level certification requirements.

5. Customer-Driven Specification Development

Ability to analyze customer system requirements (e.g., passband, stopband, rejection, power handling) and derive detailed filter specifications accordingly.

6. Filter Performance Trade-Off Analysis

Skilled in balancing insertion loss, rejection, Q factor, and size constraints to recommend or customize optimal filter solutions.

7. Customer-Facing Technical Support

Capable of guiding customers through filter selection, integration, and troubleshooting, including creating application notes and presenting performance data.

Qualifications (will include the education's knowledges, skills and competencies):

Education

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering + 3 years of experience in Applications Engineering or 

Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering + 1 Year of experience in Application Engineering
