Application Support Engineer

Job Summary:

VB.NET Application Support Analyst

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide Level 1 and Level 2 support for VB.NET-based applications.
  
• Troubleshoot bugs, performance issues, and integration errors.
  
• Work closely with development teams to analyze code and deliver quick resolutions.
  
• Monitor application logs, database queries, and performance metrics.
  
• Handle incident, problem, and change management tickets using tools like Jira, ServiceNow, etc.
  
• Collaborate with business users to understand and replicate issues.
  
• Participate in root cause analysis and implement preventive actions.
  
• Deploy patches and updates in test and production environments.
  
• Maintain support documentation, user guides, and knowledge base articles.
  
• Coordinate with external vendors or 3rd-party support if required.
  

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  
• 5-8 years of experience supporting applications developed in

  VB.NET

• Solid understanding of

  Windows Forms

  or

  Web Forms

  .
• Experience with

  SQL Server

  (T-SQL, stored procedures, views, triggers).
• Strong analytical and debugging skills with ability to read and understand VB.NET code.
  
• Familiarity with source control tools (e.g., Git, TFS).
  
• Good understanding of SDLC and ITIL-based support processes.
  
• Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with end users.
  

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with migrating VB.NET applications to modern platforms (e.g., C#, .NET Core).
  
• Knowledge of web services (SOAP/REST).
  
• Exposure to Windows Server, IIS, or basic networking.
  
• Familiarity with job schedulers (e.g., Windows Task Scheduler, Control-M)
