Application Front-end Lead

JOB PURPOSE

As a Senior React Developer, you will be a key contributor to the development and maintenance of large-scale digital platforms, including high-traffic e-commerce sites and complex CMS-driven applications. You will be responsible for delivering seamless user experiences and robust, high-performance frontend solutions using the modern React and Next.js ecosystem.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and maintain both e-commerce and content-centric applications, primarily utilizing React, Next.js, and related modern frontend technologies.
• Contribute to the development of highly reusable, scalable components and common web technologies essential for building seamless multi-channel experiences.
• Implement complex integrations with CMS backends to manage content-driven platforms effectively.
• Architect and build responsive web applications optimized for mobile, tablet, and desktop.
• Audit and optimize web application performance using Core Web Vitals as key metrics.
• Implement advanced debugging techniques and use browser developer tools to ensure code quality and stability.
• Perform regular website testing to ensure functionality, including logging issues, detailing bugs, and recommending improvements to Project Managers (PMs).
• Ensure adherence to security and privacy principles, particularly in the context of GDPR and client-side data handling.
• Develop test plans and troubleshoot complex issues related to application functionality and performance.
• Assist with website conversion tracking and analytics implementation.
• Engage in technical discussions with team members and conduct peer reviews.
• Balance code quality with productivity gains through AI tooling

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Core Technical Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in frontend development.
• 3+ years of dedicated, hands-on experience building complex applications with React and its ecosystem (Hooks, advanced state management, component libraries, etc.).
• Strong practical experience with server-side rendering (SSR) or static site generation (SSG) frameworks, with a preference for Next.js.
• Experience working with APIs, including RESTful and GraphQL, for data fetching and integration with backend services.
• Strong knowledge of component-based architecture and reusable UI patterns;
• A profound understanding of CSS, semantic HTML (including concepts like layout, cross-browser compatibility, and accessibility), and modern JavaScript (ES202*) concepts. Experience with CSS pre-processing or utility-first tools like SASS, CSS modules or Tailwind.
• Development experience with responsive layouts for desktop, tablet and mobile;

E-commerce & CMS Platform Expertise

• Experience in integrating frontend applications with various CMS backends, including headless CMS (e.g., Contentful, Dato, Storyblok) and traditional platforms.
• Experience implementing and debugging 3rd party integrations relevant to both e-commerce (e.g., payment gateways) and CMS (e.g., analytics, personalisation tools).
• General experience of building, launching, and maintaining complex digital platforms, including e-commerce stores and large-scale content-driven websites.
• Strong testing and debugging skills using browser developer tools and testing libraries (e.g., Jest, React Testing Library).
• Experience developing for accessibility, SEO, and performance optimization.
