Job Description

As an API Engineer, you will be a valuable member of our Engineering team, bringing your expertise in RESTful API architecture, HTTP protocols, and API security standards. Your primary responsibilities will include designing, developing, and maintaining robust and scalable RESTful APIs. Collaborating closely with frontend and backend teams, you will ensure seamless API integration and manage various API concerns such as versioning, throttling, rate limiting, and error handling. Your role will also involve implementing secure authentication and authorization mechanisms like OAuth2, JWT, and API keys to ensure the high performance, security, and responsiveness of our API services. Monitoring API health, performance, and troubleshooting technical issues will be crucial aspects of your day-to-day tasks. Additionally, you will be responsible for documenting API specifications using Swagger/OpenAPI and contributing to defining API development standards and best practices. To excel in this role, you should possess a strong expertise in RESTful API design and implementation, along with proficiency in HTTP, JSON, XML, request/response headers, and status codes. Hands-on experience with AWS services is mandatory, and a solid understanding of API security practices is essential. Experience with API management tools like AWS API Gateway, Kong, or similar platforms will be beneficial. Knowledge of API lifecycle management, including deployment, versioning, and deprecation, as well as familiarity with caching, rate limiting, logging, and monitoring in API environments, will be valuable assets in this position. Strong analytical and debugging skills, along with experience in CI/CD tools and practices, are also desired qualities. While experience with Java-based API development is considered a plus, your proficiency in REST API, AWS Cloud, and Java will be key to your success in this role.
