This certification program provides comprehensive hands-on training in Andrology and basic IVF laboratory techniques. Trainees will learn semen analysis, sperm preparation for ART, cryopreservation basics, lab quality control, and lab safety protocols followed at Dr. Aravind’s IVF centres.
The course is ideal for students who want to build a career in IVF labs, Andrology labs, and reproductive sciences.

Course Objectives

• To provide practical exposure to complete andrology laboratory processes.
• To train candidates in semen analysis and sperm preparation for ART procedures.
• To familiarize trainees with IVF lab workflow and documentation.
• To build confidence in handling instruments, QC logs, and patient samples.
• To prepare candidates for employment as Andrology Technicians or Lab Technicians in fertility centres.

Key Training Modules1. Semen Analysis (Theory & Practical)

• Sample collection guidelines & patient instructions
• Routine semen analysis (volume, concentration, motility, morphology)
• Advanced assessments (vitality, hypo-osmotic swelling, etc.)
• WHO guidelines and reporting formats

2. Sperm Preparation Techniques

• Preparation for IUI (Swim-up & Density Gradient)
• Basics of IVF/ICSI sample preparation
• Handling surgically retrieved samples (PESA/TESE)

3. Cryopreservation (Basics)

• Principles of freezing and thawing sperm
• Liquid nitrogen handling
• Labeling, tracking, and storage protocols

4. Andrology Lab Quality Control

• Calibration of microscopes & equipment
• Media handling and validation
• Daily/weekly QC logs & documentation
• Maintaining sterility and workflow safety

5. IVF Lab Exposure (Observational Module)

• Introduction to IVF/ICSI workflow
• Embryologist assistance exposure
• Lab ethics, SOPs & patient confidentiality

6. Laboratory Safety & Compliance

• Biosafety and PPE usage
• Waste segregation and disposal
• Ethical handling of sensitive reproductive samples

7. Documentation & Reporting

• Lab Information Systems (LIS) basics
• Sample entry, result reporting, QC logs
• Audit readiness training

Eligibility Criteria

• B.Sc in Life Sciences / Biotech / Microbiology / Biochemistry / MLT
• OR DMLT / Diploma in Lab Technology
• Freshers are eligible
• Basic interest in IVF / lab work preferred
