Position Overview

The Shift Supervisor Optics will be responsible for overseeing optical component fabrication activities during the assigned shift. The role ensures smooth machine operations, quality adherence, workforce coordination, and accurate documentation throughout the production process. The Supervisor must maintain high standards of optical cleanliness, precision, and safety while supporting production targets.

Key Responsibilities

1. Machine Operation

• Operate optics fabrication machinery such as grinders, polishers, edging machines, and cementing jigs as per defined work instructions.
• Ensure machines are properly set up, calibrated, and maintained for optimal performance.
• Monitor machine behavior and escalate abnormalities to maintenance or engineering teams.

2. Optics Part Handling & Preparation

• Handle fragile optical lenses, prisms, mirrors, and components with utmost care.
• Perform preliminary cleaning, inspection, and preparation of parts before processing.
• Prevent scratches, chips, and contamination during part movement or storage.

3. Process Accuracy & Quality Control

• Follow established process parameters and fabrication sequences for each optical batch.
• Measure part dimensions using gauges, micrometers, Vernier calipers, and interferometers to ensure accuracy.
• Identify deviations, defects, or process issues and take timely corrective actions.

4. Batch Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain accurate records of batch progress, daily production logs, part measurements, reworks, and shift reports.
• Document any process issues, machine downtime, or quality abnormalities in the prescribed formats.
• Support traceability requirements by ensuring proper labelling and documentation of each batch.

5. Painting, Cementing & Post-Processing Support

• Assist in activities like lens painting, edge masking, cementing/assembly of doublets or prisms.
• Ensure correct cure times, alignment, and application of chemicals/adhesives as per specifications.
• Coordinate with quality and engineering teams to verify assemblies.

6. Cleanroom & Workplace Discipline

• Maintain strict adherence to optical clean room protocols, PPE usage, and contamination control.
• Ensure workstations are clean, organized, and compliant with 5S practices.
• Follow all safety guidelines related to chemical handling, machinery operation, and optical material care.

7. Team & Shift Management

• Supervise operators during the shift, allocate tasks, and ensure production targets are met.
• Provide on-the-job training for new operators on optics handling, machine usage, and documentation.
• Coordinate with engineering, QC, and stores for smooth workflow.

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma / BE /B. Tech / Engineering in Optics, Mechanical, or related field.
• Minimum

  4 ~ 6 years (for BE Candidate) & 7 ~ 8 years (for Diploma)

  of experience in optics manufacturing or precision component fabrication.
• Hands-on experience with optical fabrication machines is preferred.
• Good understanding of measurement tools, SPQCD, DEE, quality standards, and clean room practices.
