Job Title/Position: HOD Design Engineering Required Qualification: BE Mechanical/BE Electrical/BE Electronics & Communication Required Experience: 20 to 25 years Location - Bangalore Preferred candidate is someone who heads the department and leads a team in Design and Manufacturing/Production from the Electronic Packaging. 1) Addition preferred skill a. Mfg Process engineering.( Machining and Sheet metal) b. Cable Harness design. Electronic packing / electronic systems / Electro - mechanical Exp in design/ Modelling of a. Ruggedized enclosures, b. Mech cabinets c. Machine tool parts 2) Conversant with all Mech Engg Drg notation 3) Working skill in ACAD & CATIA V5 Should know ProE knowledge Key Accountabilities: RFQ Management Review RFQ documents, specifications, and drawings with technical team to ensure its completeness including proposal preparation and approvals in accordance with company standers to confirm the feasibility. Ensure the smooth running of the tender/RFQ for a project within the correct time and financial parameters and manage the relationship with the Sales & Customers. Identify required Tools, Jigs, Fixtures, work area and Manpower (Capacity planning for the project). Project Management & Product Execution Thorough study of the Purchase order to understand the customer terms and conditions, testing, and delivery requirements. Based on project plan, explain the project details & responsibilities to related inter departments. Proactively supervise and implement project plan to ensure project is on-schedule and on-budget. Make new design & validate material suitability & finalise the BOM for material order clearance to material planner/Purchase. Takes customer approvals for any deviation /alternate materials used for the project. Facilitate with technical Writing team for new product documentation such as PDR (Preliminary Design Review), CDR (Critical Design Review), FDR (Final Design Review), SOP (Standards of Preparation), UHB (User Handbook), ATP (Acceptance Test Procedure). Provide the technical support to the production team and resolve the technical and process issues to complete the project with minimal time. Apply engineering best practice to reduce cost and sustain existing products to meet customers cost targets. Ensure use of Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA) Process to rectify issues that arise during testing & assembly of the system and provide long-term corrective actions. Production planning and Control Planning and organizing production schedules considering the delivery dates & complexity of the project/product. Daily production review meeting (Target V/s Actual) Make necessary arrangements for components movements to plating shop and stores for further process. Supervise and train new employees. Check production output according to specifications. Enforce strict safety guidelines and company standards. Productivity improvement and cost control through best practices, Kaizens, LEAN/6-Sigma tools and project implementations. Perform PFMEA, plan for Poka Yoke wherever necessary/Gage R&R etc. for defect free process. Operator headcount reductions using LEAN/6-Sigma methods and tools. Plan for reducing inventory by using LEAN/6-Sigma methods and tools. Understand the Customer Requirement on Quality Standards. Determine quality control standards & monitor product/line PPM (internal and Customer) Attend all quality related issues and provide necessary CAPA immediately for its resolution. Major quality issues to be addressed through 8D method only. Train line leaders about the process and product quality to ensure better product. Follow PFMEA, CAPA/8D Functional/Technical Competencies Feasibility study/ Costing & estimation. Project management/Execution. Ability to handle multiple projects. Department expense management. Tool selection & Technical support to sales team. Ability to work within a cross functional team to maintain schedule and financial goals throughout a project.
