Job Purpose

Implement ZLD system in Kuppam works as directed by APPCB. Ensure appropriate maintece and upkeep of ZLD and ETP machinery for consistent, reliable, and safe performance. Co- ordinate with SCM department for effective spares procurement and management with respect to operation of ZLD and ETP. Adhere to all Environmental Norms including zero effluent discharge to ensure a safe and Eco-Friendly working Environment by satisfying Internal and External Stakeholders. Coordinate all sustainability initiatives as driven by corporate sustainability.

Job Context & Major Challenges

Job Context: The global Aluminium market is valued at USD 87. 84 billion in 2021 and is expected to grow 7. 5 % (CAGR) from 2022 to 2030. Increase in demand for lightweight and durable extruded products is driving the growth. Top aluminum extruders are investing and creating tough competition.
This plant is first of its kind, across the globe to have mill finish, anodized, powder coated, fabricated products manufactured under one roof. The profiles developed and manufactured are highly complex in nature, having critical die design, challenging operations, involve highly skilled technicians, special machinery and processes. This unit has two 8-inch press with a capacity of 16KT per annum, anodizing 2. 5 KT per annum, powder coating 3. 2KT per annum along with various fabrication machinery like manual and robotic welding, CNC cutting & machining centers, Flaring & collaring, assembly lines serving for Building & construction (38%) , industrial (41%), Exports (11%), Automotive (7%), and solar segments (3%). This unit is increasing its business in automated warehouse system, premium anodizing finish products (exports). Solar energy and automotive (domestic) segments by increasing utilization of existing facility with additional shifts, setting up new fabrication facility, additional anodizing tanks and a brand-new extrusion press. Job Challenges: The Statutory Norms with respect to Environment Protection is becoming very stringent day by day therefore it is very important and challenging to comply with this requirement in a given scenario. In some of the plant sections hazardous chemicals are handled and therefore the risk potential is very high. Post-acquisition, Hindalco standards on sustainability need to be implemented at Kuppam works like zero waste to landfill, zero liquid discharge, waste and water task force initiatives to keep the unit over and above regulatory compliances, SUP free unit certification, Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) requirement compliance, biodiversity & plantation enhancement etc. Moreover APPCB directions on implementation of zero liquid discharge and decommissioning of existing solar pond need to be complied within stipulated timelines.

Key Result Areas KRA (Accountabilities) (Max 1325 Characters) Supporting Actions (Max 1325 Characters) KRA1 Environment, Health & Safety Management Review and report progress on dealing with issues of EH&S and applicable legal requirements to the Works Head on monthly basis. Co-ordinate all the activities for maintece of ISO 14001 certification. ETP/STP technical evaluation, identifying/ evaluating agencies for operation and maintece of ETP/STP. Implement ZLD system to recover treated effluent and reuse back in the system KRA2 Training Educate employees on safe working practices & Environmental concerns to inculcate safe attitude and update on environmental issues. To guide shop floor for designing the environmental solutions to comply with legal requirements. Imparting system awareness trainings to line management on various environmental regulations and requirements KRA3 Statutory compliances Compliance of statutory requirements and its effective implementation as per government and regulatory bodies. Maintain legal records as applicable. Monitor the current revision of applicable legal laws. Monitoring legal compliance related to PCBs (CFE/CFO renewal, Haz waste report submission etc. ) Evaluation & monitoring of consent conditions of plant (Analysis of drinking water , ETP water , work place monitoring, Soil Sample , Noise level monitoring , Stack Monitoring , sludge analysis , ambient air monitoring ). Mapping and tracking of environment compliances. Hazardous waste management, disposal coordination. Ensuring online submission of Environment Statement of plant. Internal & external environment audit compliance. Make budget proposals for environment compliances. Implementing Corporate EHS programmes and audits. Implementing robust Environment Management Systems like ISO 14001 Implementing kaizens / Management Programs for continual HSE improvement. KRA4 Environment Promotional Activities Organize campaigns, competitions, contests and other activities to develop and improve employee morale. Prepares daily, weekly and monthly activity and other reports as directed. Ensure the environmental monitoring is done as per consent requirements and corporate guidelines. Generate MIS for corporate as required. Sustainable, Waste to Wealth, Water conservations operations initiatives
