The System Engineer - Networking role at Barco is a global/APAC position that involves the design, implementation, and management of complex network infrastructure encompassing Local LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, Wi-Fi, firewalls, switches, and security systems. As a key player in this role, you will work in collaboration with the Infrastructure Architect to propose and define the network roadmap, design, deploy, and maintain the Local LAN infrastructure (including R&D labs), WAN, and SD-WAN solutions, and implement advanced routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP. Your responsibilities will also include configuring and optimizing Wi-Fi networks for performance and coverage, managing enterprise switches, routers, and firewalls to ensure seamless connectivity, and potentially working with cloud networking platforms like Azure, AWS, and GCP. In this role, your expertise in advanced troubleshooting will be crucial as you resolve complex network issues across LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, and Wi-Fi, collaborate with local teams to address network problems, and conduct root cause analyses to implement permanent solutions. Security management forms an integral part of the position, requiring you to configure and monitor firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, Fortinet) and security policies, manage VPNs, ACLs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems, and design and troubleshoot enterprise-grade Wi-Fi networks. Documenting and reporting network configurations, security policies, and working closely with vendors for hardware/software support are additional responsibilities that you will handle. The ideal candidate for this role should hold a B.Tech./B.E/M.Tech in computer science or equivalent stream with a desired experience range of 10+ years. Proficiency in network protocols like TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VLANs, QoS, network hardware (Cisco, Aruba, Fortinet, Palo Alto, etc.), Wi-Fi design and troubleshooting, firewall and security management, monitoring tools, and scripting/automation skills (Python, Ansible) are highly valued skills for this position.
