knowledge of SMAW, GTAW, SAW, FCAW welding (knowledge of atleast 3 processes out of 4 ; out of which SMAW & FCAW is a must)
for SMAW & FCAW they should be able to weld in 3 positions 1G , 2G & 3G. & for GTAW, they should be able to weld inall positions
qualification by welding test piece is a must for minimum two processes.
knowledge about general safety at workplace, welding safety, welding radiations, fumes, electrical hazards related to welding.
prior experience in either boiler/pressure vessels OR heavy fabrication / structural fabrication manufacturing industry.
knowledge of welding parameters like preheating temperature, interpass temperature, postheating, SMAW electrode holding temperatures, weld defects, positional welding, Penetrant testing
knowledge of welding materials of thickness range 6mm to 100 mm for various product forms like plates, pipes etc.
knowledge of welding carbon steels and low alloy steel grades
able to use power tools like grinder to attend weld defects.
