Company Description

The National Technology Centre for Ports, Waterways & Coasts (NTCPWC) is envisioned as a hub for technological innovations and breakthroughs in the port and maritime sector. Serving as the technology arm of the Ministry of Shipping, NTCPWC provides essential technological support to ports, IWAI, and other institutions.

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role located in Chennai for a Vtms Operator - IALA certificate holder. The role involves monitoring and controlling vessel traffic, ensuring navigational safety, and communicating with vessels to provide necessary information and instructions. The Vtms Operator will also manage data logs, coordinate with port authorities, and assist in emergency situations as needed.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge and expertise in vessel traffic management
  • Experience with using and managing Vtms systems
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with vessel operators and authorities
  • IALA certificate is mandatory
  • Ability to handle emergency situations and make quick decisions
  • Familiarity with maritime regulations and protocols
  • Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies, Marine Engineering, or a related field is a plus
