Job Description

Client Consultation and Assessment:

  • Conducting thorough consultations to understand clients' immigration needs and eligibility.
  • Analyzing complex immigration cases and providing expert advice on available options.
  • Assessing clients' documentation and identifying potential issues.

Case Management:

  • Preparing and filing various immigration applications and petitions (e.g., visas, green cards, citizenship).
  • Managing case timelines and ensuring compliance with deadlines.
  • Communicating with government agencies (e.g., USCIS, Department of State) on behalf of clients.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date client records.

Legal Compliance:

  • Staying abreast of changes in U.S. immigration laws and regulations.
  • Ensuring all applications and documentation comply with current laws.
  • Providing accurate and ethical advice to clients.

Documentation and Paperwork:

  • Assisting clients in gathering and organizing required documentation.
  • Preparing and reviewing legal documents and forms.
  • Ensuring accuracy and completeness of all submissions.

Client Communication and Support:

  • Providing clear and timely communication to clients throughout the immigration process.
  • Addressing client inquiries and concerns.
  • Preparing clients for interviews with immigration officials.

    Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of U.S. Immigration Law:

    A deep understanding of U.S. immigration laws, regulations, and procedures.
  • Strong Communication Skills:

    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to Detail:

    Meticulous attention to detail1 and accuracy in documentation.
  • Organizational Skills:

    Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Problem-Solving Skills:

    Ability to analyze complex situations and develop effective solutions.
  • Client Service Skills:

    Excellent client service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ethical Conduct:

    Adherence to strict ethical standards and confidentiality.
  • Computer Proficiency:

    Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and case management software.
  • Educational Background:

    While not always required a back ground in legal studies, or paralegal experience is very helpful.

  • It's crucial to understand the regulations surrounding who can provide legal advice. In the U.S., providing legal advice on immigration is generally restricted to licensed attorneys.
  • Many consultants work under the supervision of, or in conjunction with, licensed immigration attorneys.
