Job Description

Role & responsibilities

Able to define the battery capacity needed in kWh based on customer and product requirements.
Able to assess multiple cell technologies (LFP vs NMC, Prismatic vs Blade) and arrive at the right cell technology to meet the product level requirements in terms of range, durability, thermal safety, performance, charging time, etc.
Define the battery pack architecture to package maximum number of cells within the given volume target and weight target.
Define the cooling system needed to ensure battery safety in all operating conditions without any risk of cell overheating and thermal run-away.
Deep understanding of cell chemistry, battery architecture, cell voltage balancing, Battery management system and battery robustness.
Technical expertise on Battery robustness against thermal, vibration, water immersion and impact.
Understanding of battery charging to enable fast-charging with DC and regular charging with AC without any thermal overload in the system ensuring battery safety.
Ability to integrate motor and battery with requirement acceleration performance and recuperation levels.
Understanding of multiple powertrain modes, recuperation modes to offer multiple choices to customer and also to extract maximum range by recuperation.
Engineer the battery and powertrain as modular systems to cater to wide range of products with minimum change to ensure reduced development lead time, cost, investment and efforts.
