About the role: Roundglass is seeking an experienced College Admission Counsellor to join a dynamic team. In this pivotal role, the Counsellor will provide expert guidance to athlete learners, assisting them in navigating the complex college admissions landscape and aligning their academic pursuits with career aspirations. The Counsellor will be instrumental in supporting students as they explore educational opportunities and chart their paths to success. Responsibilities will include academic advising, college admissions, and career planning. The Counsellor will guide athlete learners through the admissions process, assist in selecting suitable colleges and universities, and support their overall educational and career objectives. A key aspect of this role involves collaborating with universities to create opportunities for athlete learners to engage in sports, while maintaining up-to-date knowledge of institutional offerings. This role demands fostering a supportive environment that promotes student well-being and success, with a particular focus on enhancing the higher education and career development of athlete learners. Expertise in recruitment processes, sports-specific academic advising, and financial aid options will be essential in helping students achieve their goals. What you`ll do: This admission counsellor role requires deep knowledge of the admission process. Provide expert guidance to athlete learners in finding programs aligned with their interests, strengths, and career goals. Demonstrate a deep understanding of the college admissions process, academic requirements, and degree programs. Assist athlete learners in developing academic plans and selecting appropriate courses. Monitor athlete learners progress and provide guidance on academic challenges. Conduct orientation programs to guide athlete learners through the admissions process and on career choices. Assist athlete learners in selecting suitable colleges and universities. Provide career counselling and support in exploring higher education courses, career options, and setting career goals. Facilitate connections with potential employers and internship opportunities. Connect with universities to ensure opportunities for athlete learners to engage in sports. Maintain up-to-date knowledge about institutions offering sports opportunities. Collaborate with faculty and staff to integrate counselling services into the broader educational experience. Work closely with faculty, administration, and other student support services for a holistic approach to student development. Maintain confidential records of counselling sessions and interventions. Prepare reports on athlete learners progress, counselling activities, and program outcomes. Participate in college committees and contribute to policy development related to athlete learners/student support services. Skills & Qualifications: Bachelor/master`s degree in counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field. Minimum of 3 years of experience in educational counselling, admissions & college counselling. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Knowledge of the recruitment and admissions processes specific to student-athletes, including how to navigate these processes effectively. Experience working with athletic departments or coaches to align admissions processes with athletic program requirements and schedules. Knowledge of developmental issues affecting college students. Familiarity with career counselling tools and resources. Data analysis skills for tracking athlete learners performance and evaluating outcomes. Cultural competency to effectively engage with athlete learners from various backgrounds. Proficient in MS Office Suite and counselling software. Experience with athletic recruitment processes and admissions specific to student-athletes. Experience with sports-specific academic advising, including managing academic and athletic commitments. Knowledge of financial aid options and scholarships for college students, particularly athletes.
