Underwriter

Position Overview:
As a Mortgage Underwriter, you will be responsible for assessing loan applications,ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements, and makingsound lending decisions. You will play a critical role in the loan approval process,analyzing borrower creditworthiness and risk factors while ensuring timely andaccurate processing.Key Responsibilities: Review and analyze mortgage loan applications, financial documents andcredit reports. Ensure all underwriting decisions are made in accordance with investorrequirements. Make informed underwriting decisions, including approvals, denials, orconditions needed for approval according to Investor guidelines (FNMA,FHLMC, HUD & VA Handbook) Communicate effectively with loan officers, processors, and other teammembers to resolve issues and provide updates on the underwritingprocess. Maintain detailed records and documentation of underwriting decisionsand rationale. Assist in training and mentoring junior underwriters and support staff asneeded.Live Loan Underwriting: Actively underwrite live loans, including complex and high-riskapplications, to support the team and maintain underwriting proficiency. Review and analyze loan applications, credit reports, asset, incomedocumentation, and collateral with appraisals report. Stay updated on industry trends, changes in regulations, and bestpractices in live underwriting. Review complex loan applications and make sound credit decisions basedon risk assessment. Possess in-depth knowledge of various loan programs, includingConventional, FHA, VA, USDA, Non-QM, and Jumbo loans.Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or a related field preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience in mortgage live underwriting, with astrong understanding of underwriting guidelines and processes. Knowledge of federal and state lending regulations (e.g., RESPA, TRID,FHA, VA, USDA). Proficiency in mortgage underwriting software Encompass Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate complex financialinformation. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectivelywith team members and clients. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
