Role & responsibilities:
As part of the BT Group Tax Gurugram Centre of Excellence, you will support BT Group Tax and the wider finance/tax teams globally with tax compliance, analysis and reporting in respect of one or more tax areas including Transfer Pricing and International Tax Planning and Compliance. You'll demonstrate an understanding of the increasingly complex international tax environment and effectively apply your tax knowledge to business situations, developing and delivering innovative approaches and solutions in a timely and responsive manner. As a Tax Manager, you'll take the lead in developing recommendations and implementation of approved plans in complex areas. For this purpose, you will also be working together with the business, finance, and tax teams (of the respective business unit, vertical or region), group finance/tax colleagues, and external advisors, as may be required. Your responsibilities will include:
- Review of the transfer pricing documentation strategy of the Group and recommend appropriate changes having regard to changes in local regulations and practices and the TP profile in various jurisdictions.
- Independently review critical/ country specific TP reports and ensure that the contents of the reports are aligned to BTs TP Policy, our Tax Compliance Quality Standard and local regulations.
- Prepare the Group Master File and ensure that it is finalised in a timely manner and in accordance with the processes regarding information gathering and internal reviews.
- Support the Head of Group Transfer Pricing to review the Groups transfer pricing policies from time to time, including gathering relevant information and preparation of the necessary analyses and documentation to support implementation of approved changes.
- Work with the Head of Group Transfer Pricing, senior stakeholders from Group Treasury and external advisors to prepare yearly benchmarking analyses in respect of the intra-group financial transactions. Prepare additional documentation/analysis to support the pricing policies, wherever required.
- Support the Group in implementation of the proposed two-pillar international tax framework. Work with the senior Group Tax leadership team and colleagues from other relevant functional areas to model the impact, prepare for the additional tax compliance burden and assess opportunities to minimise complexity.
- Develop a strong understanding of the policy features of the two-pillar approach, the rules, and multilateral conventions as they evolve and provide insight on the practical implications for BT’s business.
- Lead technology and process improvements (working along with other tools and opportunities available) to ensure accurate, efficient and timely compliance and reporting in respect of the Pillar 1/ Pillar 2 rules and procedures.
- Support on tax/transfer pricing audits and controversies – evaluate requests for information from tax authorities and participate in developing strategies to successfully defend transfer pricing positions. Support the coordination and implementation of audit strategies. Stay abreast of legal developments and industry positions to accurately evaluate options and responses to requests for information.
- To keep regular track of transfer pricing and other key international developments globally, help to analyse the relevant changes from a BT perspective and update the relevant stakeholders in a timely manner.
- Timely reporting on the progress of work, achievements, and risks, if any, to your line manager.
- Responding to queries raised by internal stakeholders/auditors/local tax authorities/advisors in consultation with your line manager.
- Supporting preparation of dashboards and presentations to senior leadership.
- Supporting other ad hoc UK/International Tax projects
Required Skills:
- Typically, a professionally qualified accountant experienced in global transfer pricing and international tax planning and compliance with 4-8 years of relevant post-qualification experience in a reputed multinational corporation or consultancy firm.
- Expert level knowledge in Microsoft Office 365 applications. Good exposure to technology e.g., ERP environments like Oracle/SAP, Tax Automation/ RPA projects and a keen interest in the latest technological developments in the telecom and IT industry would be preferred.
- Experience in working in a multinational environment and your ability to communicate effectively in a complex and dynamic organisational environment. Excellent English communication (verbal or writing) skills.
- A keen interest in the latest global economic trends and tax developments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated ability to develop innovative and creative solutions to complex issues.
- Good business acumen with a reasonable understanding of the various potential tax complexities in a multi-national organisation especially in respect of cross border transactions.
