About the Role

We are seeking a talented Textile Designer with strong illustration skills to join our creative team. The role involves redesigning traditional and old motifs into fresh, contemporary patterns using digital tools. You will collaborate with designers and subject experts to adapt motifs into versatile design applications, ensuring they retain their heritage essence while meeting modern style and usability requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Digitally redraw and modernize old motifs using Adobe Illustrator and other tools.
• Create seamless repeat patterns and motif variations for textiles and related applications.
• Collaborate with the team to brainstorm design adaptations for different uses (fashion, interiors, eLearning visuals, etc.).
• Ensure accuracy, quality, and consistency in motif redesign.
• Incorporate feedback to refine artwork and meet project expectations.
• Stay updated with textile design trends, color palettes, and motif adaptations.
• Manage multiple redesign projects and deliver within timelines.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience as a Textile Designer, Illustrator, or related role.
• Proficiency in:
• Adobe Illustrator
• Adobe Photoshop
• Drawing tablets (e.g., Wacom)
• Strong portfolio showcasing motif work, textile patterns, or heritage-inspired design.
• Understanding of design principles, repeats, composition, and color theory.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with the creative team.
• Degree/Diploma in Textile Design, Fine Arts, or related field (preferred).

• Knowledge of traditional and regional motifs, their cultural context, and applications.
• Ability to create vector-based motifs, digital swatches, and fabric-ready print files.
• Familiarity with weaving/printing processes and limitations.
• Interest in merging heritage motifs with modern minimal or abstract styles.
