Job Purpose:
The Tendering Engineer is responsible for managing the tendering process for medium voltage switchgear products and solutions. The role involves preparing comprehensive techno-commercial offers, coordinating with internal teams, ensuring compliance with customer requirements, and supporting sales in winning projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Tender Analysis: Study and analyze tender documents, drawings, specifications, and Bill of Quantities (BOQ) to understand customer requirements.
- Cost Estimation: Prepare accurate cost estimates for switchgear equipment, accessories, and services by coordinating with Procurement, Engineering, and Production teams.
- Proposal Preparation: Prepare and submit techno-commercial proposals, pre-qualification documents, and compliance statements as per tender requirements.
- Technical Evaluation: Ensure technical compliance of the offer with customer specifications and highlight deviations, if any.
- Vendor Coordination: Obtain quotes from vendors/sub-suppliers for bought-out items and ensure best prices and delivery terms.
- Customer Liaison: Interact with customers/consultants for technical clarifications, post-offer queries, and negotiations.
- Documentation: Maintain up-to-date documentation of tenders, offers, correspondences, and tender status reports.
- Market Intelligence: Keep abreast of industry trends, competitor offerings, and pricing strategies.
- Process Improvement: Suggest improvements in tendering processes to enhance efficiency and win rates.
### Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Experience: 25 years of experience in tendering/estimation for switchgear or related electrical equipment (MV/LV preferred).
- Technical Skills: Good understanding of medium voltage switchgear, protection systems, and related standards (IS/IEC).
- Commercial Acumen: Knowledge of commercial terms, taxes, duties, and contract basics.
- IT Skills: Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); ERP experience is an advantage.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills; attention to detail; ability to work under deadlines.
Additional Requirements:
- Willingness to travel for customer meetings or site visits if required.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
