Key Responsibilities: Pre-operative Preparation: Prepare OT for daily procedures, ensuring availability and functionality of instruments and equipment. Assist in patient positioning and OT table preparation for cesarean sections and gynecological surgeries. Check sterilization of instruments and arrange surgical sets based on the procedure type. Coordinate with surgeons, anesthetists, and nurses for surgical planning and readiness. Intra-operative Assistance: Assist during surgeries by handling instruments, suction, diathermy, and other OT equipment. Ensure maintenance of sterile field and aseptic techniques at all times. Operate and troubleshoot surgical machines (e.g., cautery, suction, OT lights, laparoscopic towers). Maintain accurate surgical count of instruments, gauze, and sharps with nursing team. Post-operative Duties: Assist in patient transfer from OT to recovery. Ensure cleaning and reprocessing of instruments post-surgery. Prepare OT for the next case promptly, ensuring minimal downtime. Document usage of consumables and equipment. Team Supervision & Training: Supervise junior OT technicians and support staff in day-to-day responsibilities. Train new OT technicians on surgical protocols and sterilization techniques. Monitor performance and ensure compliance with hospital standards. Inventory & Maintenance: Maintain inventory of surgical instruments, equipment, and consumables. Raise requisitions for OT supplies and ensure timely procurement. Report malfunctioning equipment and coordinate with biomedical team for repairs. Compliance & Quality Assurance: Ensure strict adherence to infection control and sterilization standards (CSSD coordination). Participate in audits, quality control processes, and NABH/JCI compliance checks. Report any adverse events or near-misses in the OT.
