Technical Manager

Job Summary

The Technical Manager MEP is responsible for overseeing all technical aspects of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems across projects. The role ensures design compliance, technical coordination, value engineering, quality assurance, and adherence to applicable codes, standards, and client requirements throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Engineering Management

• Review and approve MEP designs, drawings, specifications, BOQs, and technical submittals.
  
• Ensure compliance with relevant IS, NBC, IEC, NFPA, ASHRAE, and local authority standards.
  
• Coordinate with consultants, design teams, and project execution teams for design finalization.
  

Technical Coordination

• Resolve technical issues at site and provide engineering solutions.
  
• Coordinate MEP systems with civil, architectural, structural, and other services.
  
• Manage RFIs, design changes, and technical clarifications.
  

Value Engineering & Optimization

• Identify opportunities for value engineering, cost optimization, and energy efficiency.
  
• Propose alternative materials, systems, and methods without compromising quality.
  
• Support procurement with technical evaluations and vendor finalization.
  

Quality Assurance & Compliance

• Establish and monitor QA/QC procedures for MEP works.
  
• Conduct technical audits, inspections, and compliance checks at site.
  
• Ensure adherence to approved drawings, method statements, and specifications.
  

Support to Project Execution

• Provide technical guidance to project managers, site engineers, and supervisors.
  
• Review installation methodologies and commissioning plans.
  
• Assist in planning testing, commissioning, and system integration activities.
  

Documentation & Approvals

• Review and approve shop drawings, material submittals, and method statements.
  
• Ensure timely submission of as-built drawings, O&M manuals, and technical documentation.
  
• Coordinate approvals with clients, consultants, and statutory authorities.
  

Training & Knowledge Management

• Train and mentor engineering teams on technical standards and best practices.
  
• Update teams on new technologies, codes, and industry developments.
  

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (Masters preferred).
  
• 1018 years of experience in MEP design, coordination, and execution.
  
• Strong exposure to large-scale commercial, residential, industrial, or infrastructure projects.
  
• In-depth knowledge of HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Fighting, and ELV systems.
  

Key Skills & Competencies

• Strong technical and analytical skills in MEP systems
  
• Expertise in design review, coordination, and troubleshooting
  
• Knowledge of international and local MEP codes and standards
  
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit (MEP), and MS Office
  
• Leadership and mentoring capability
