Technical Lead

The Technical Lead guides the technical delivery of the large and complex enterprise solutions to support the desired business outcomes and identified technical features to be delivered. They are responsible for the end-to-end technology system design of the solution, and ensure that what is delivered is aligned and compliant with all enterprise standards. As part of the Product Owner team, they collaborate closely with the Business Product Owner and Technology Product Owner to ensure successful delivery of the overall solution.

Role Expectations

• Overall design of the solution to ensure that it delivers on identified features and delivers on the desired business outcomes
• Contribute technical aspects to the overall project strategy and delivery plan
• Manage the technical aspects of software implementations, integrations and extensions to ensure operational service levels and project outcomes and expectations are met
• Identification and definition of the technical features that are required to fully support and robustly maintain the delivered solution
• Design of the infrastructure required to support the solution
• Ensuring that the technical work products that are developed are appropriately aligned and integrated and meet defined functional and architectural requirements and Humber ITS standards
• Develop technical artifacts to articulate the technical design and implementation of the solution, including required decision notes, solution design documents, solution architecture documents, presentations, briefing notes, and reports
• Identify technical risks and issues and work with the implementation team members to develop plans to mitigate and/or resolve
• Ensure that technology processes are updated and followed (e.g., software design, code reviews, approvals, weekly deployment planning, change control and release management)
• Manage relationships with external vendors involved in implementing the solution and ensure deliverables and solutions meet requirements and align with standards
• Planning and designing releases to support meaningful relevant and deployment of functionality as it is developed, tested and accepted
• Strong consulting expertise and the ability to independently identify, investigate and recommend appropriate approaches and strategies

Skill Requirements

• Expert knowledge of relevant application systems architecture, functionality, data and integration capabilities

• Experience with application integration strategies and protocols, including the use of iPaaS solutions such as MuleSoft and JitterBit

• Experience with cloud hosted enterprise applications with Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Entra and/or Microsoft Azure

• Experience with version control software such as Subversion or GIT

• Superior oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, including excellent active listening skills

• Problem-solving and root cause analysis skills

• Knowledge of project management methods, tools and best practices

• Experience working in an agile mode of operations

• Experience managing work in Microsoft Azure DevOps

• Higher education or public sector experience is highly desirable
