Description
As a Technical Content Professional, you will create, develop, curate, and analyze technical content for digital self-service products. This includes technical documentation, UX content, embedded assistance, training, blogging, and support content delivered in various online and print formats. You will advocate for users during the engineering and design processes, ensuring content is easy to find, useful, and current. Technical Content Professionals may specialize in UX content, product documentation, UI writing, embedded assistance, technical writing, multimedia production, visual design, instructional design, and digital learning.What you will do Create clear, concise, and relevant technical content that helps users to achieve their goals. Apply design thinking principles to design content based on user scenarios, personas, and use cases. Be part of a collaborative model where Product Management, Design, Development, Go To Market, and Technical Content work together to ensure content is designed as part of the user experience from the beginning, not as an after-thought. Actively contribute to design reviews with early mock-ups and user research to validate content. Gather information from a broad range of resources and synthesize into comprehensive deliverables. Identify a holistic content plan that determines where the content will live, based on user needs Make it possible for users to find the content by optimizing it for search. Understand content metrics and use those insights to drive designs and manage content lifecycles Take ownership of an aspect of technical content and drive that on behalf of the content team Required education Bachelor's Degree Preferred education Bachelor's Degree Required technical and professional expertise
13+ years of experience in developing content for software or hardware products
Familiarity with the following is helpful:
Familiarity with structural and markup languages (e.g. HTML, DITA, Markdown)
Familiarity with authoring tools (e.g. Oxygen, Adobe Illustrator, DCS, Acrolinx)
Familiarity with development tools (e.g. GitHub, RTC, Jenkins, Atom)
Design Thinking practices Familiarity with programming languages [e.g. Java, Node, JavaScript, COBOL] Familiarity with Cloud, and integration technologies
Familiarity with IBM Digital Content Services (DCS), and using IBM Doc Manager and Workflow Manager (WFM) for content publishing
Preferred technical and professional experience You must be able to write wellclearly, concisely, grammatically, effectively. Visual and video skills help us to go beyond text.
