This role is for one of the Weekday's clients Min Experience: 5 years Location: Bengaluru JobType: full-time We are looking for a talented and imaginative Technical Artist to join our game development team. As a crucial link between the art and programming teams, this role is instrumental in delivering high-quality visuals while ensuring performance and technical efficiency across platforms, especially for mobile (Android) using Unreal Engine 5. You'll help bring the Art Director's vision to life by balancing visual fidelity, technical limitations, and real-time performance. This role involves tool and pipeline development, shader creation, and problem-solving across technical art challenges. Requirements Key Responsibilities: Collaborate closely with artists and engineers to integrate art assets into the game engine effectively. Build tools and automate workflows for efficient asset handling, shader creation, and pipeline processes. Contribute to shader development, lighting setups, and visual effects to enhance artistic outcomes. Optimize 3D assetsincluding models, textures, shaders, and animationsfor mobile performance without sacrificing quality. Identify performance bottlenecks and proactively propose and implement optimization strategies. Stay current with emerging tools, technologies, and best practices in game development. Skills and Qualifications: 5+ years of experience as a Technical Artist in a game studio. Solid grasp of GPU render pipelines and architecture; ability to interpret GPU frame captures and CPU trace logs. Strong understanding of 3D art creation principles including modeling, texturing, rigging, animation, and UI integration. Proficiency with game engines such as Unreal Engine (preferred) or Unity. Familiarity with scripting or programming languages such as Python or C# for tool creation. Proven experience in shader programming and optimization techniques. Excellent analytical and collaborative problem-solving skills. Nice to Have: Proficiency in C++ Experience with rigging, skinning, animation state machines, and building animator-friendly rigs.
