Job Summary:
Role: Tax - Information process enabler
Skill: Direct and Indirect Taxation
Experience: 8 years to 10 years
Job Location: TCS Chennai One
Shift: 6.30 AM to 4.30 PM


Eligibility:
  • Minimum 15 years of regular, full-time education (10 + 2 + 3)
- Accounts/Finance graduation - B.COM, M.COM or similar (Preferred)
  • Should be flexible with night shifts & rotation shifts


Process specific responsibilities and position Overview:
The Tax Controller is responsible for overseeing the company’s tax strategy, compliance, and financial controlling functions. This role ensures the accurate and timely preparation of financial statements, tax filings, and regulatory compliance. The professional in this position works closely with the finance, accounting, and legal departments and maintain financial controls that align with company objectives and industry standards.


Key Responsibilities:


1. Tax Compliance and Reporting:
  • Oversee and manage the preparation and filing of all tax returns, including corporate income tax, VAT, transfer pricing, and other indirect taxes.
  • Ensure timely submission of tax filings in accordance with local and international tax laws and regulations.
  • Maintain records for all tax filings, tax payments, and supporting documentation.
  • Assist in the preparation of tax provisions and related financial reporting for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Stay updated on tax regulations and ensure compliance with changing tax laws, both domestic and international.


2. Tax Planning and Strategy:
  • Develop and implement tax planning strategies that minimize tax liabilities while ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations.
  • Advise senior management on tax-efficient structures, cross-border taxation, and potential opportunities for tax optimization.
  • Manage and execute the transfer pricing policies, ensuring that intercompany transactions are in compliance with local and international regulations.
  • Collaborate with external tax advisors and consultants to address complex tax issues and optimize the company’s tax position.


3. Budgeting and Forecasting:
  • Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, ensuring alignment with corporate financial targets and tax obligations.
  • Collaborate with business units to incorporate tax implications into financial plans and projections.
  • Assist in financial analysis to support decision-making related to business investments, mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic initiatives.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations for cost control and resource optimization.


4. Audit and Regulatory Compliance:
  • Manage external audits and collaborate with auditors to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial reports and tax filings.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate governance standards and internal controls, identifying and mitigating financial risks.
  • Support internal audits and implement corrective actions based on audit findings related to financial and tax matters.
  • Prepare for tax authority audits and respond to tax queries, ensuring all necessary documentation and support is provided.


5. Risk Management and Internal Controls:
  • Identify, assess, and manage financial and tax risks within the organization.
  • Establish and monitor internal control processes to ensure compliance with financial and tax regulations.
  • Work with internal teams to ensure proper documentation, record-keeping, and reporting practices are in place to avoid tax liabilities and ensure financial transparency.
  • Implement policies and procedures for the effective management of financial transactions and tax-related activities.


6. Team Leadership and Collaboration:
  • Lead and mentor a team of tax and financial professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
  • Develop team members’ skills and capabilities through training and career development initiatives.
  • Work closely with finance, legal, and other business departments to ensure seamless coordination of tax and financial matters.
  • Build relationships with external tax advisors, legal consultants, and regulatory authorities.


Requirements:
  • Masters in Commerce / Bachelor in Commerce.
  • 4+ years of experience in General Ledger processes.
  • Strong interpersonal & Presentation skills.
  • Strong communication skills required in both written & oral communication in English.
  • Proficiency in MS office skills particularly in excel, PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency in ERP / applications – SAP, Oracle and applications like Blackline
  • Innovative and analysis skills are required to deal with complex data, identify discrepancies and suggest for cost saving opportunities.
  • Flexibility to work in various shifts & working hours
