We are seeking a skilled and motivated BMS System Engineer to join our engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for the system-level design, integration, validation, and optimization of Battery Management Systems (BMS) for various applications such as electric vehicles, energy storage, and industrial systems. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the BMS meets performance, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead the system-level design and architecture of BMS solutions, including requirements gathering, specification, and documentation.
- Integrate BMS hardware, firmware, and software components to deliver robust and reliable systems.
- Develop and maintain system requirements, interface definitions, and validation plans.
- Coordinate with hardware, software, and application engineering teams to ensure seamless integration and functionality.
- Perform system-level testing, validation, and troubleshooting to ensure compliance with safety and performance standards.
- Analyse system performance data and recommend improvements for efficiency, reliability, and safety.
- Support the development and implementation of functional safety concepts (e.g., ISO 26262, IEC 61508).
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including system architecture diagrams, test reports, and user manuals.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in battery technology, BMS architectures, and industry standards.
- Provide technical support to customers and internal teams during system deployment and operation.
- Bachelors or masters degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field.
- 2+ years of experience in system engineering, preferably with BMS or battery-powered systems.
- Strong understanding of battery technologies, BMS concepts, and system integration.
- Experience with system modelling, simulation, and validation tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS).
- Familiarity with communication protocols: CAN, UART, SPI, I2C.
- Knowledge of functional safety standards and practices.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
- Experience with automotive or industrial BMS applications.
- Knowledge of battery chemistries (Li-ion, LFP, NMC, etc.) and cell balancing techniques.
- Experience with requirements management tools and version control systems.
- Exposure to cloud integration and IoT platforms for remote BMS monitoring.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards and certification processes.
- You have an enthusiastic desire to grow and learn.
- If you've worked at a startup before, that's a plus.
- You like working in a high accountability, high responsibility environment.
- Were a fast-growing team. You’ll have the opportunity to have a lasting impact on our culture.
- You are satisfied with where you are in life and do not want to push to learn/grow further.
- You believe that the best products are built by following your instincts instead of listening to users.
- You are more concerned about short-term payoffs than long-term payoffs.
- You are fundamentally risk averse.
- You like working in an extremely structured environment.
