Job Description

Job Summary:

Supplier Quality Mechanical Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supplier Quality Oversight:

    Lead quality assurance activities at supplier sites related to mechanical components such as

    steel laminations, stator cores, and rotor core assemblies

    .
  • Process Validation & Qualification:

    Evaluate and validate manufacturing processes including

    lamination punching, interlocking, stacking, core pressing, and shrink fitting of rotor/stator cores

    .
  • Technical Review:

    Review supplier drawings, quality documents, and inspection reports to ensure compliance with design and specification requirements.
  • Supplier Audits & Development:

    Conduct periodic supplier process audits and drive supplier development and corrective actions where required.
  • PPAP/APQP Coordination:

    Support or lead

    PPAP

    , APQP activities and

    First Article Inspections

    for new and modified components.
  • Non-Conformance Management:

    Investigate supplier quality issues, perform

    root cause analysis

    , and implement effective

    Corrective and Preventive Actions

    .
  • Cross-functional Collaboration:

    Work closely with engineering, design, procurement, and project teams to align supplier quality with project timelines and customer expectations.

Qualifications:

  • Education:

    Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Experience:

    Minimum

    5-8 years

    of experience in supplier quality engineering, preferably in

    Wind Mill Generator

    , electric motor manufacturing, or heavy machinery sectors.
  • Technical Skills:

    • Strong understanding of

      steel lamination processes

      (electrical steel, stamping, insulation coating).
    • Experience in

      stator/rotor core manufacturing

      including shrink-fit and stack lamination.
    • Familiar with

      GD&T

      , tolerance stack-up, and mechanical inspection techniques.
    • Knowledge of

      NDT

      , vibration and dynamic balancing is a plus.
  • Tools & Standards:

    Proficient in MS Office, SAP, and quality tools such as

    FMEA, 8D, Fishbone, 5 Why

    , etc. Familiarity with

    ISO/IEC standards

    related to electrical rotating machines and steel grades.
  • Soft Skills:

    Strong communication, problem-solving. Ability to travel to supplier sites as needed.
