Job Summary:

Unicent School, Bowrampet Campus, is looking for a qualified and empathetic Student Counselor with a strong background in Psychology to support the emotional, social, and academic well-being of students. The counselor will play a vital role in creating a nurturing school environment where students feel heard, understood, and empowered to thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide individual and group counseling sessions for students facing emotional, behavioral, academic, or social challenges.
• Identify students in need of psychological support and create tailored intervention plans.
• Maintain confidentiality and accurate documentation of student cases and interactions.
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and school leadership to support student development and well-being.
• Facilitate workshops on topics such as stress management, bullying, peer relationships, emotional intelligence, exam anxiety, and time management.
• Support the implementation of school-wide mental health and wellness programs.
• Assist in early identification of learning difficulties and recommend referrals for assessments or external help if needed.
• Promote a positive, inclusive, and empathetic school culture.
• Act as a liaison between students, families, and external professionals when necessary.
• Stay up to date with current practices and developments in school psychology and child development.

Requirements:

• Master’s Degree in Psychology / Counseling Psychology / Clinical Psychology or related field.
• At least 2–5 years of experience working with children or adolescents, preferably in a school setting.
• Sound knowledge of child and adolescent development, behavioral issues, and psychological interventions.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy, discretion, and professionalism.
• Proficiency in English and local languages (preferred).

Preferred Attributes:

• Certification in counseling/child psychology is a plus.
• Experience in conducting mental health awareness sessions for students, staff, or parents.
• Open-minded, approachable, and culturally sensitive.
• Skilled in conflict resolution and crisis intervention.
