Overview

The Structural Engineer is responsible for designing, analyzing, and validating structural elements of road signage systems—including signboards, gantries, poles, foundations, and mounting assemblies. This role ensures that all products meet required engineering standards, safety regulations, wind-load criteria, and project specifications.

Key Responsibilities

1. Design & Engineering

  • Develop structural designs for road sign supports such as:
    • Cantilever signs
    • Overhead gantries
    • Sign poles and masts
    • Variable Message Sign (VMS) support structures
  • Perform structural calculations considering wind loads, seismic loads, material properties, and safety factors.
  • Prepare detailed engineering drawings, fabrication drawings, and BOMs in coordination with the design/drafting team.
  • Optimize designs for manufacturability, cost efficiency, and durability.

2. Analysis & Verification

  • Conduct structural analysis using software (STAAD Pro, SAP2000, Tekla, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.).
  • Verify compliance with international and regional standards (AASHTO, BS/EN standards, ASTM, local road authority guidelines).
  • Review and approve shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and technical submittals.

3. Coordination & Project Support

  • Collaborate with production, fabrication, and installation teams to address engineering challenges.
  • Provide technical guidance during manufacturing, welding, assembly, and installation.
  • Conduct site inspections and structural assessments of installed signage structures.
  • Prepare engineering reports, method statements, and technical documentation.

4. Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure quality control of materials such as steel, aluminum, bolts, and coatings.
  • Inspect structural components for compliance with engineering standards.
  • Ensure safety, stability, and durability of all signage support systems.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred).
  • 2–7 years of experience in structural design, preferably in steel structures or signage infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of wind-load design, steel structures, welding, and fabrication processes.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
