Storyteller

Varanasi Guru is a slow-travel company rooted in cultural preservation. We design immersive experiences that go beyond sightseeing. Our tours are focused on storytelling, heritage, and a deep respect for the spiritual and historical identity of Kashi. We've collaborated with BBC, leading universities, cultural researchers, and thousands of travelers who come to the city not just to see it, but to understand it.

We are now building the next phase of the company and looking for someone who believes in the long-term vision of creating meaningful travel experiences in India, starting with Varanasi.

This role blends operational thinking with creative oversight. You’ll be responsible for shaping the on-ground guest experience while also supervising the brand’s visual and digital storytelling.

Tour Design and Operations

• Create and refine cultural and spiritual travel packages
• Build out multi-day retreats, city tours, and custom itineraries
• Manage vendors, including boatmen, guides, transport, and local collaborators
• Handle guest coordination, SOPs, and real-time problem solving
• Ensure smooth execution of daily walks, pickups, and partner deliverables

Content and Brand Management

• Oversee the production of reels, walkthroughs, and promotional videos
• Supervise on-ground shoots with photographers and editors
• Maintain visual consistency across platforms
• Approve content ideas, structure shoot schedules, and help with scripting when needed
• Work closely with the founder to evolve the voice and storytelling format of the brand
  

• Deep interest in Indian history, mythology, and travel
• Familiarity with Varanasi, or willingness to spend time on the ground
• Good sense of content aesthetics (especially Instagram/short-form video)
• Strong communication and coordination skills
• Not afraid to handle chaos, guests, and last-minute changes
• Experience in hospitality, DMC, creative direction, or content-led tourism is a plus
• Bonus if you're comfortable appearing on camera or leading experiences occasionally
