Job Summary:

The Store Manager is responsible for managing the storage, handling, and distribution of materials, tools, and equipment for residential construction projects. The role involves overseeing inventory control, ensuring timely availability of materials, and maintaining a well-organized store in compliance with safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in managing construction materials and a good understanding of procurement and supply chain processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inventory Management

    : Maintain accurate records of all materials, tools, and equipment in the store, including quantities, locations, and usage.
  • Stock Control

    : Monitor stock levels regularly to ensure that adequate supplies are available for construction activities and reorder items as needed.
  • Material Receiving

    : Oversee the receipt of materials, inspect deliveries for quality and quantity, and ensure proper storage as per company standards.
  • Issue & Dispatch

    : Ensure timely issue and dispatch of materials, tools, and equipment to site personnel as per approved requisitions and project schedules.
  • Documentation & Reporting

    : Maintain proper documentation for all inventory transactions, including goods received notes (GRNs), stock issue slips, and return reports.
  • Coordination with Procurement

    : Work closely with the procurement team to ensure that material requirements for construction projects are met and any delays in supply are communicated.
  • Warehouse Organization

    : Ensure that the store/warehouse is well-organized, with materials stored in a safe, accessible, and labeled manner according to type and usage.
  • Material Handling & Safety

    : Ensure proper handling of all materials and equipment, following safety protocols and preventing damage or deterioration.
  • Physical Stock Audits

    : Conduct periodic physical stock checks to reconcile with system records and report any discrepancies.
  • Vendor Coordination

    : Coordinate with suppliers and vendors for timely delivery, quality issues, and returns of damaged or surplus materials.
  • Waste Reduction

    : Implement systems to minimize material wastage, control pilferage, and maintain optimal stock levels.
  • Asset Management

    : Keep track of tools and equipment issued to site personnel and ensure timely return and maintenance as needed.
  • Compliance

    : Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and safety regulations in all store operations.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education

    : Diploma or Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Inventory Management, or any relevant field.
  • Experience

    : 58 years of experience in store management within the residential construction industry.
  • Inventory Control

    : Strong knowledge of inventory management practices, including stock tracking, reorder levels, and inventory auditing.
  • Material Knowledge

    : Good understanding of construction materials, tools, and equipment used in residential construction projects.
  • Software Skills

    : Proficiency in inventory management software (e.g., SAP, ERP systems) and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Communication Skills

    : Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with suppliers, site teams, and other departments.
  • Organizational Skills

    : Ability to manage multiple materials and tools efficiently and maintain an organized store.
  • Problem-Solving

    : Ability to troubleshoot inventory issues, handle stock discrepancies, and resolve supplier-related challenges.
  • Attention to Detail

    : A meticulous approach to handling inventory records and transactions to ensure accuracy.
  • Time Management

    : Ability to prioritize tasks and handle multiple site requirements simultaneously.
  • Team Management

    : Experience in managing a small team of store assistants and ensuring smooth daily operations.
