Store keeper (civil)

A storekeeper in a construction project is responsible for managing and overseeing the inventory of materials, tools, and equipment used on the construction site. Their primary duties include:

• Inventory Management: The storekeeper maintains accurate records of all materials, tools, and equipment received, stored, and issued. They track stock levels, order new supplies as needed, and ensure the availability of necessary items for the construction work.
• Material Receiving and Storage: The storekeeper oversees the receiving and unloading of materials delivered to the construction site. They inspect the items for quality and quantity, and then properly store them in designated areas to protect them from damage or theft.
• Material Disbursement: The storekeeper issues materials, tools, and equipment to the construction crew as per the project requirements. They maintain detailed records of all items issued and returned, ensuring accountability and efficient use of resources.
• Warehouse Organization: The storekeeper is responsible for the organization and cleanliness of the on-site storage facilities, such as warehouses or material yards. They ensure that items are properly labeled, stored, and accessible for easy retrieval.
• Inventory Monitoring and Reporting: The storekeeper regularly monitors the inventory levels, identifies any discrepancies or shortages, and provides reports to the project management team. These reports help in budgeting, planning, and decision-making for the construction project.
• Maintenance and Security: The storekeeper is responsible for maintaining the condition of the stored items and ensuring the security of the storage facilities. They implement measures to prevent damage, theft, or misuse of the construction materials and equipment.
• Coordination with Suppliers and Contractors: The storekeeper liaises with suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors to coordinate the delivery and return of materials, tools, and equipment as per the project schedule.
