Description
The Store Assistant supports the efficient handling of inventory, raw materials, tools, and finished goods in a motor and pump manufacturing environment. This role ensures proper storage, documentation, and timely issue of materials to the shop floor, while maintaining inventory accuracy and complying with safety standards. Key Responsibilities: Receive and inspect incoming materials, components, and parts as per purchase orders. Maintain accurate records of goods received and issued using inventory management systems (manual or ERP). Ensure proper labeling, stacking, and storage of items to avoid damage or loss. Issue raw materials and components to production as per Material Issue Slips (MIS) or job cards. Track and report minimum and reorder levels for critical inventory items. Coordinate with the Purchase and Production teams for timely material availability. Assist in periodic stock audits and cycle counts; reconcile physical stock with system records. Handle packing and dispatch of finished goods or components as per dispatch instructions. Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety of the store area. Follow ISO/quality system documentation procedures related to store operations. Required Skills and Qualifications: High school diploma / ITI / Diploma in Mechanical or relevant discipline. 1–2 years experience in storekeeping in a manufacturing setup, preferably in motors, pumps, or engineering goods. Basic knowledge of mechanical components, bearings, shafts, castings, fasteners, etc. Familiarity with ERP software (e.g., Tally, SAP, or similar) is a plus. Good organizational and record-keeping skills. Ability to lift materials and operate trolleys or material-handling equipment Basic understanding of quality procedures and 5S practices. Working Conditions: Factory/shop-floor based role; may involve standing, lifting, and working in warehouse conditions. Requires adherence to PPE and safety guidelines at all times. May require extended hours during dispatch or stock-taking periods. Desirable (Optional): Forklift license or experience handling cranes/hoists.
